The Heart of Listening
Seraphinite - Gemstone nugget. Tread softly and listen closely amidst the din of life. Please shut up for a moment and listen as others may seek to tell you of their joy and pain. Look beyond words and see the burden they might bear. I recently took the time to listen closely to someone and heard for the first time what she has tried to communicate for years. I suddenly connected with what I was afraid to hear - Her pain and suffering at the hands of abusers. I struggled to find words of comfort, but finally gave us both over to The Great Comforter who looks beyond our faults and sees our need.

Listen to your student - as they tell you how they learn
Listen to your children - see if they are hurting.
Listen to the abuser - offer the help for which they yearn.
Listen to screams of anger -seek and find the seat of discontent.
Listen to your heartbeat, the wind, - the rhythm of the falling rain
Listen to your spirit - Therein lies discernment and enlightenment
Listen with your third ear pressed against heaven’s window pane
As you seek to manage humanity’s earthly pain.
